SAS for federal and state government: fraud, public health and program results.

Federal and state agencies use SAS to find fraud, watch public health, respond to emergencies and show what their programs achieve. We set up and run SAS for agencies, build the analytics, and keep the platform governed, documented and secure.

Why SAS here

Analytics that stand up to an audit

Public agencies answer to legislators, inspectors general and the public, so an analysis has to be reproducible and its data handled with care. SAS gives an agency one platform for data management, analytics and reporting, with the governance, scale and security that public data needs.

It is also how many agencies modernize. Programs written and refined over many years often hold rules that are written down nowhere else, and moving them to a newer platform without losing that logic is most of the work.

Use cases

Where agencies apply SAS

These are the six use cases agencies ask us about most. Each turns data the agency already collects into a decision it can explain.

What we do

  • Fraud detection and prevention: benefits, tax, procurement and healthcare claims checked for the patterns that point to fraud
  • Public health surveillance: case reports, lab results and other sources monitored to spot outbreaks early
  • Crisis and emergency response: needs, resources and services tracked as an event unfolds
  • Revenue optimization: tax compliance and collections work aimed where it returns the most
  • Performance-based budgeting: program spending linked to outcomes, so funding can follow results
  • Digital citizen services: how residents use services and channels, measured to make them easier to use

SAS products

The SAS products we work with

We install and configure these for agencies, connect them to agency data, and build the models and reports on top.

What we do

  • SAS fraud and investigation analytics, for inspectors general, auditors and oversight agencies
  • SAS Visual Analytics, for dashboards and ad hoc reports for policymakers and executives
  • SAS data governance and data quality tools, for shared definitions and privacy controls
  • SAS Viya, for building, deploying and managing models with an audit trail

How we work

Modernizing without losing what works

Before changing anything we take an inventory: the programs, the data they read and write, the schedules they run on and the people who rely on their results. Then we move them in stages, to SAS Viya or to newer servers, and run the old and the new side by side until the results match.

Access is limited to the people who need it, every action is logged, and the data stays where your security rules say it must.

What we do

  • An inventory of programs, data and schedules before any change
  • Staged migration, with old and new results compared side by side
  • Role-based access and audit logging
  • Documentation for your oversight and records teams

Questions

Common questions

Can SAS help detect fraud in benefit and claims programs?

Yes. SAS fraud analytics combine business rules, anomaly detection and network analysis to flag the claims, payments or applications that look wrong, and send them to investigators with the evidence attached. We set up the data feeds, the models and the queue the investigators work from.

Can we move our existing SAS programs to a newer platform?

Yes. We inventory the programs, data connections and schedules first, move them in stages to SAS Viya or to newer servers, and run old and new side by side until the results match.

How is sensitive public data protected?

SAS runs where your security rules require: in your own data center or in the cloud account you have approved. We set up access by role, log who did what, and keep personal data out of the reports that do not need it.

How do we start?

Use the form on this page to tell us about your SAS environment and the work in front of you. Someone who works on SAS projects will reply. If you would rather talk it through first, book a call.
