SAS licensing: new licenses and renewals, quoted, applied and kept in line with use.
We supply new SAS licenses and handle renewals alongside the installation, upgrade and support work we do on SAS, so what you license matches the analytics you run, and a renewal never stops a job your business depends on.
New licenses
A new SAS license, matched to the work
SAS is licensed by product and by how it is deployed: SAS Viya or SAS 9.4, the analytics products each team needs, and the servers, cores or people it runs for. The right mix depends on the work, so a quote starts there: the data, the models and the reports your teams need, who builds them and who reads the results.
We work out the products and the deployment with you, check them against SAS’s current terms, and send a quote with everything set out. If you are adding SAS to an estate you already run, we look at what you license today first, so you do not pay twice for the same capability.
What we do
- SAS Viya and SAS 9.4 products quoted for the work in scope
- A deployment sized for the servers, cores or people it runs for
- Add-on products and extra capacity for an existing license
- Licensing planned together with installation or migration
Renewals
Renewals reviewed early and applied before the license date
Every SAS site runs on a license with an end date. Once it passes, SAS shows warnings for a period and then stops running, and the scheduled jobs, reports and models that depend on it stop with it. We track the date with you, review usage well before it, and quote the renewal with time left to change what you license.
When the renewal is in place, we apply the new license to every server and client that needs it, check that the scheduled jobs still run, and keep a record of what was licensed and where.
What we do
- License dates tracked, with usage reviewed before each renewal
- Products added, changed or dropped at renewal
- The renewed license applied to every server and client
- Scheduled jobs checked after the license is applied
Usage
Licenses kept in line with what is used
Analytics estates drift. A team moves its models to SAS Viya and the SAS 9.4 servers it left behind keep their licenses; a product bought for one project stays on the renewal long after the project ends. We compare what you license with what is installed and what actually runs, show you the difference, and agree with you what to keep, move or drop at the next renewal.
What we do
- Licensed products compared with what is installed and used
- SAS 9.4 and SAS Viya licensing planned together during a migration
- A plain list of what to keep, add or drop
One team
Licensing in the same conversation as the platform
Because we also install, upgrade and support SAS, a license question rarely stands alone: a move to SAS Viya changes what you need, and a new model may call for a product you do not have yet. We keep licensing, installation and support with one team. Our SAS implementation and management work covers the platform itself, and our SAS Analytics practice builds the models that run on it.
Questions
Common questions
Can we buy SAS licenses through Princeton IT Services?
Yes. We quote and supply new SAS licenses and renewals, on their own or together with installation, upgrade and support work.
What do you need from us for a quote?
What the SAS environment is for: the work your teams do on it, the products they use or need, and where it runs. For an existing site, the current license details and renewal date help us quote a renewal or an addition accurately.
What happens if our SAS license expires?
SAS shows warnings for a period after the license date and then stops running, and the jobs and reports that depend on it stop with it. We track the date with you so the renewal is applied before then.
Do you handle both SAS 9.4 and SAS Viya licenses?
Yes. We quote and renew licenses for both, and plan them together when you are moving from SAS 9.4 to SAS Viya, so the two overlap only as long as the move needs.
Buying or renewing SAS?
Tell us what you run on SAS today, what you plan to add and when your license renews, and we will come back with what you need.
