Services / Managed IT Services (MSP)

Managed IT Services that look after every desk, network and inbox.

Princeton IT Services is a Managed Service Provider (MSP) in Princeton, NJ. We take day-to-day IT off your plate: a help desk for your people, security on every laptop, network and mailbox, and remote monitoring that spots problems before your staff do.

Managed IT Services

An IT department that is already up to speed

With managed IT services, one team runs your IT every day, instead of a provider you call only when something breaks. Your staff contact engineers who know your systems. We handle user requests, new-starter setups, licenses and vendor calls, and we keep a written record of how your environment is put together, so nothing lives in one person's head.

Each month you get a report on tickets, risks and upcoming renewals, so replacements and renewals are planned rather than discovered. We are based at 500 Alexander Park Drive in Princeton, NJ, support people on site across Central New Jersey, and help staff remotely wherever they work. When you need new laptops, servers or licenses, Tech365, our reseller division, supplies them, so one account team covers your people, your devices and the plan.

Desktop, Network & Email Security

Protection on every device, connection and mailbox

Most incidents start with one laptop, one open connection or one convincing email. As your MSP, we put protection on all three and watch it, so a threat is stopped and investigated instead of discovered weeks later. Laptops and servers are protected and encrypted, the firewall and Wi-Fi are set up to a written standard, mailboxes are filtered for phishing and malware, and Microsoft 365 sign-ins need a second factor.

What we do

  • Endpoint protection and disk encryption on laptops and servers
  • Firewall, Wi-Fi and remote access set up to a written standard
  • Email filtering for phishing, malware and spoofed senders
  • Multi-factor sign-in and regular access reviews in Microsoft 365

Remote Monitoring & Management

We see the problem before your people do

Remote monitoring and management (RMM) software on your servers, laptops and network equipment reports their health to our engineers continuously. Disks filling up, failed backups, missing patches and unusual sign-ins raise an alert, and most are fixed remotely before anyone notices. Updates go out on a schedule you approve, and backups are proven by restoring from them, not by reading a job log.

Questions

Questions about managed IT services

What is a Managed Service Provider (MSP)?

A Managed Service Provider (MSP) is a company that runs some or all of your IT for you on an ongoing basis, rather than being called in after something breaks. An MSP usually looks after the help desk, security, monitoring, patching and backups, and keeps your systems documented. Princeton IT Services is an MSP based in Princeton, NJ, and managed IT is one of our practices, alongside AI, data, cloud and Microsoft work.

How are managed IT services different from break-fix support?

Break-fix support is called in after something fails and paid for by the job, so nobody is responsible for stopping the next failure. With managed IT services, the same team is responsible for keeping things running: patching, monitoring and checking backups before a problem reaches your staff, and documenting your setup so the next fix is quicker. Your staff also know who to call, and that team already knows your systems.

What is included in your managed IT services?

A help desk for every employee, remote and on site in Central New Jersey; onboarding and offboarding; Microsoft 365 and license administration; security on every device, network connection and mailbox; continuous monitoring, patching on a schedule you approve, and backup checks with test restores; calls to your vendors; and a written record of your environment. Each month you get a report on tickets, risks and upcoming renewals. We agree the exact scope with you before we start.

Who are managed IT services for?

Organizations that depend on their IT but do not want to run it themselves: companies with no IT staff, companies whose one IT person is stretched too thin, and companies leaving another provider. We also work alongside in-house IT teams that want to hand over the help desk or the monitoring and keep the projects. Schools and colleges can use the same service, with devices and licensing through Tech365.

How does onboarding work?

We start with a review of what you have: devices, accounts, network, backups, licenses and the vendors you rely on. We write it down, take over the administrator access, install monitoring, and fix the most urgent risks first, such as a backup that has never been tested or an account without a second sign-in factor. Then the help desk opens to your staff, and the first monthly report shows where things stand.

Do you work on site, and where?

Yes. Our office is at 500 Alexander Park Drive in Princeton, NJ, and our engineers support people on site across Central New Jersey. Most requests are solved remotely, so staff who work from home or in another office get the same help desk. Princeton IT Services has more than 100 active clients across New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania, and our service area page lists the places we cover.

Can you work alongside our in-house IT team?

Yes. Some organizations keep their own IT lead and use us for the help desk, the monitoring or the security work, or as cover for holidays and busy periods. We agree in writing who does what, work from the same ticket history and documentation, and report to your IT lead each month.

Do you have examples of this work?

The case studies on this page include unified network and cloud security with Palo Alto Networks, which gave a client moving to cloud and remote work one view of threats across office and cloud traffic, and meeting rooms and collaboration tools modernized for a global real estate firm across its offices.
