Remote monitoring and management (RMM) puts a small piece of monitoring software on each server, laptop and network device. It reports their health to our engineers continuously, so a full disk, a failed backup or a missing update becomes an alert we deal with, usually remotely, rather than a call from your staff.
Monitoring
Most outages announce themselves first: a disk that fills up over weeks, a backup that quietly fails, a server that restarts in the night, sign-ins from somewhere your staff have never been. Monitoring watches for those signs on your servers, laptops and desktops, and on firewalls, switches and Wi-Fi access points, and raises an alert to our engineers when one appears. Most are fixed remotely before anyone notices.
Patching
Operating system and application updates close the holes attackers use, but an update installed at the wrong moment can stop work. We agree a maintenance window with you, try updates on a small group of devices first, then roll them out to the rest. A device that misses an update is followed up rather than forgotten, and an urgent security fix is discussed with you before it goes out of schedule.
Backups
A backup job that reports success is not proof that you can get your data back. We check the result of every job, and on a schedule agreed with you we restore files and systems from the backups to prove they work. Each test is recorded with what was restored and how it went, so you know before a bad day whether recovery will work.
Records and reporting
Every alert becomes a ticket with what happened and what our engineers did, so a problem that comes back is recognized at once. The monthly report brings it together: the alerts and fixes, the devices missing updates, the backup tests, and the warranties and licenses due for renewal, so replacements are planned rather than rushed.
Questions
RMM is software that reports the health of each server, laptop and network device to an IT team, and lets that team update and fix them remotely. For you, it means problems are found by our engineers, usually before your staff notice them, and most are fixed without anyone visiting.
Yes. We agree a maintenance window with you and keep to it. An urgent security fix may be worth installing sooner; when it is, we discuss it with you first.
By restoring from them. As well as checking the result of every backup job, we restore files and systems from the backups on a schedule agreed with you, and record what was restored and how it went.
Yes. Remote monitoring and management runs alongside the help desk and the security work in our managed IT services, and the same engineers handle the alerts, the tickets and the monthly report, so nothing falls between two teams.
It becomes a ticket for our engineers, who fix it remotely where they can and visit where they cannot, on site across Central New Jersey. You see each one in the monthly report, with what was done about it.
