Inside the Agents 365 Dashboard: Microsoft’s New Control Plane for AI Agents

Explore the Microsoft Agent 365 Dashboard for AI agent governance, security, lifecycle management, compliance, and visibility in Microsoft 365.

· · 5 min read

Summary

As organizations move from experimenting with AI agents to running them at enterprise scale, IT teams need a single place to see, govern, and secure every agent on the tenant. Microsoft’s answer is the Microsoft Agent 365 Dashboard experience inside the Microsoft 365 Admin Center — a unified dashboard that surfaces agent inventory, adoption insights, and AI agent governance gaps alongside the rest of the Microsoft 365 environment.

This post gives a high-level overview of what the dashboard does and walks through the pricing options now that Microsoft Agent 365 has reached general availability. It also explores how organizations can improve enterprise AI governance, AI agent security, and agent lifecycle management using Microsoft’s growing ecosystem of AI management tools.

What is the Agents 365 Dashboard?

The Agents 365 dashboard (sometimes referenced simply as the Agent overview) is the IT control plane for AI agents inside the Microsoft 365 Admin Center. This Agent 365 Dashboard provides a centralized approach to AI agent management, helping organizations monitor, govern, and secure AI-powered applications across their environment.

It surfaces every agent on the tenant — Microsoft-built, partner-built, and custom line-of-business agents — and pairs that inventory with adoption telemetry, governance alerts, and direct entry points into the security tools that protect those agents.

Administrators reach it by signing in to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center, expanding Agents in the left navigation, and selecting Overview. The page opens with a snapshot of agent activity for the last 30 days and a row of “hero metrics” that summarize scale, usage, and AI agent adoption analytics at a glance.

Below the hero strip, the dashboard breaks down agents by publisher (built by your organization vs. external partners) and by creation platform (for example, Microsoft Copilot Studio Full/Lite or Azure AI Foundry) and flags ownerless or unsanctioned agents so admins can act on them in one click.

Key Capabilities

Microsoft positions Agent 365 around five capabilities that the admin center experience exposes:

Registry — a single source of truth for every agent, including Entra-registered, Teams Store, and (soon) shadow agents. This registry strengthens AI governance frameworks by providing centralized visibility into organizational AI assets.

Access Control — least-privilege rules over which users, data, and tools each agent can touch, enforced through Microsoft Entra ID.

Visualization — the Agent Map, which charts how agents connect to users, other agents, and resources, helping organizations improve enterprise AI governance and visibility.

Interoperability — onboarding flows and Microsoft Graph API integrations (in preview) for streamlined agent lifecycle management.

Security — Microsoft Purview, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), compliance controls, and Microsoft Defender protections designed to enhance AI agent security and regulatory compliance.

Inside the Agent settings page, admins can also define agent management rules (for example, auto-reassigning ownerless agents to the previous owner’s manager via Entra hierarchy), apply security templates to new agents, gate user access, and restrict which agent types are allowed in the catalog. These capabilities help organizations establish a consistent AI compliance management strategy.

Current Pricing Plans

Microsoft Agent 365 became generally available for the Commercial segment on May 1, 2026 and is licensed on a per-user basis. There are two ways to buy it today:

Agent 365 standalone — $15 per user per month. Available directly from May 1, 2026 with no requirement to also purchase Microsoft 365 E7. At least one user in the tenant must hold a qualifying Microsoft Agent 365 license for the service to be enabled.

Microsoft 365 E7 (“The First Frontier Suite”) — $99 per user per month. Bundles Microsoft 365 E5, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and Agent 365 into a single SKU, plus Entra Suite, advanced Defender, and Purview capabilities. Microsoft markets this as priced below the à la carte equivalent.

Recommended (but not required) prerequisites to get full value include Microsoft Entra ID, Entra Suite, and Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention, which together support stronger AI governance, AI security management, and compliance controls.

Potential Drawbacks and Disadvantages

The dashboard is a meaningful step forward, but it is not without trade-offs. A few things worth weighing before rolling it out broadly:

Incomplete at GA — runtime threat protection via the Agent 365 tools gateway is still in public preview as of launch, so the AI agent security story is not fully mature on day one.

Per-user pricing can add up fast — at $15 per user per month, governing every employee who interacts with AI agents can become expensive. Organizations should evaluate which business-critical agents require full AI agent governance and licensing.

Modest bundle savings — analysts have noted that the Microsoft 365 E7 bundle delivers only about a 13% discount over buying E5, Copilot, and Agent 365 separately.

Frontier preview dependency for advanced scenarios — autonomous agents with their own identities, plus several newer agent management capabilities, still require enrollment in the Frontier early-access program.

Ecosystem lock-in — the full value of Microsoft Agent 365 depends on integration with Microsoft Entra, Purview, Defender, and related services.

Learning curve for AI admins — organizations implementing enterprise AI governance programs may need additional training around concepts such as agent registries, ownerless agents, security templates, and governance policies.

Gaps in shadow agent coverage — while Microsoft continues expanding visibility into third-party AI tools, some external agents may remain outside the current Agent 365 Dashboard inventory.

Why It Matters

IDC projects 1.3 billion AI agents by 2028. Without a centralized AI agent management platform, organizations risk agent sprawl, shadow AI deployments, ownerless agents, and unmonitored data access.

The Microsoft Agent 365 Dashboard helps address these challenges by combining inventory management, AI governance, compliance monitoring, and security controls within the familiar Microsoft 365 Admin Center. For organizations deploying Microsoft Copilot Studio, Azure AI Foundry, or custom AI solutions, the platform provides a scalable foundation for agent lifecycle management, AI compliance management, and enterprise AI governance.
