Job Title: Systems Architect (Expert)

Position Overview:

The Expert Systems Architect will be responsible for architecting technology solutions and systems that meet or exceed business requirements. The incumbent will ensure alignment with technical and security service standards and strategies. This role involves troubleshooting and resolving OS configuration, storage, networking, and performance issues related to Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) business applications. Additionally, the Expert Systems Architect will collaborate with COTS vendors, provide mentoring to team members, and contribute to system enhancements for improved performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect technology solutions/systems to meet or exceed business requirements, aligning with Technical and Security Service standards and strategies.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve OS configuration, Stealth COIs, storage, and networking issues related to COTS business applications.
  • Collaborate with COTS vendors and business areas for installation, configuration, and testing of COTS solutions.
  • Resolve issues with COTS business software, including performance tuning, log analysis, and security enhancements.
  • Review existing systems architecture, provide detailed specifications for proposed solutions, and recommend upgrades or replacements to improve efficiency.
  • Research solutions and collaborate with COTS external vendors and business areas for COTS application implementation.
  • Recommend and implement system enhancements to improve performance and reliability.
  • Provide mentoring and guidance to other members of the Transportation Portfolio Architecture team.
  • Offer Level 3 technical support for an enterprise-level distributed MS Windows server environment, including Stealth COIs, storage, and networking of COTS business applications.
  • Analyze implemented systems, identify problems, evaluate data, and document findings, including performance tuning, log analysis, and security measures.
  • Script repetitive management tasks using PowerShell and other scripting languages for application maintenance and server management.
  • Utilize ticketing systems to track and manage incidents, service requests, problems, changes, and release/deployment activities.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience working with agencies/business areas to understand business requirements and translate them into technical and security infrastructure requirements, resulting in architecture design documentation covering data flows, system interfaces, authentication, etc.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience as a Server Administrator at the Application Layer, performing COTS business application installation, configuration, troubleshooting (with or without Vendor), and providing Level 3 Technical support on Windows OS platforms, IIS, Tomcat, WebLogic, Certificate Services, and Authentication using Active Directory, SSO with SAML v2.0, and OpenID Connect.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience performing Level 3 Analytical and Technical support of COTS/business application interfaces and system interconnects implemented on converged/mixed environments to diagnose and resolve connectivity issues, including networks, Stealth firewall software, F5, and Load Balancing.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience performing Level 3 Analytical and Technical support of COTS/business applications using tools like WireShark, Process Monitor, Netstat, Ping, Traceroute, TelNet, etc.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience performing Level 3 Analytical and Technical support of COTS/business applications using tools like Splunk for log analysis, system monitoring, and system performance tuning.
  • Minimum 2 years of scripting knowledge on PowerShell, WMI, and other scripting languages to automate and administer application maintenance tasks.
