Job Title: Project Manager

Location: Remote (Position is expected to be in NYS)

Role Type: Contract (W2 only)

Hours: 35 per week

Job Description:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Manager to join the team. This is a remote position, but the candidate is expected to be in New York State. The role involves managing technical assistance projects for school bus fleet operators, with a focus on electrification. The ideal candidate will have 3-6 years of relevant experience, strong project management skills, and the ability to engage with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the technical assistance intake and application process for school bus fleet operators.
  • Review and approve applications, including scopes of work, budgets, and schedules for technical assistance projects.
  • Support and manage all aspects of technical assistance projects, including technical review, client engagement, and progress/budget tracking.
  • Engage with utilities to ensure school districts and bus fleet operators are coordinating as required by project Statements of Work (SOWs).
  • Support broad engagement with schools and school bus fleets to inform them about the opportunities for school bus electrification.
  • Track, document, and report on projects as needed, including the number of districts, project stages, number of vehicles, and progress on utility engagement.

Technical & Professional Skills:

  • Well-developed understanding of relevant technical principles and their application to the program area.
  • Basic understanding of state energy/environmental economic development issues.
  • Strong project management skills to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Competent and confident interaction with outside stakeholders, including fleets, school districts, consultants, charging station hosts, and utilities.
  • Ability to learn systems quickly and stay organized, following/set processes for managing multiple projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement projects in a timely manner.
  • Ability to produce comprehensive and concise written and verbal material.
  • Effective negotiation skills with contractors and interface effectively with customers and other contacts.
  • Proficient in Salesforce, NEIS, and MS Office.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Background in civil or electrical engineering and/or transportation planning is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with utility engagement, vehicle fleet operations, and/or school district operations is helpful but not required.
  • Basic understanding of clean transportation, electric vehicles, and electric vehicle charging is strongly preferred.
